Overview:
Data for Mexico is taken from the various concession (what Mexico calls licenses) documents as well as documents authorizing engineering changes. Like Japan, Mexico does not provide any kind of an open engineering database. The only open data is limited to who has the licenses, not how they use them. Therefore, many of the stations that have not had any changes to them will not have any engineering data available. Two major initatives such as the digital television (TDT) conversion and the conversion of many AM stations to FM have resulted in fresh engineering records for those stations. Data for Television also includes 'complementary' stations which are same-channel repeaters similar to the DTS stations in the United States.
Geographic Availability:
As of November 6, 2018, availability for AM, FM and TV is limited to the following states: Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Durango, Nayarit, San Luis Potosi, Sinaloa, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamulipas and Zacatecas. More states will eventually be added.
Data Sources:
This is a completely manual process using very limited tabled infromation from the IFT and then doing a lot of investigation. If you appreciate this work, please make a donation to REC.
Entering Data:
Call Sign: You do not need to enter the suffix to the call sign ("-FM", "-TDT", etc.).
Community Name: We are building a list of communities based on the locations of the stations. You just need to enter a city name without a state. Do not use accent marks or tildes. Our database should be smart to pick that up.
